OF GENUINE SERVICE EXCELLENCE George and Harry Leef began their careers in the laundry business picking up dirty overalls from the railroad yards and factories.
Our Company ITU AbsorbTech is one of the largest independent industrial laundries in the nation with over 100 years of delivering Genuine Service Excellence. The Leef family has always believed in delivering superior service, obtaining the newest technologies, and remaining active in the community. These are the cornerstones on which the company is built. Third generation owners Jim and David Leef are committed to building upon these principles and continuing the tradition started over a century ago.
In 1908, they began
George L. Leef became President of ITU when George H. Leef passed away in 1965. The current ITU headquarters in New Berlin, WI was established. It remains one of the largest industrial laundry plants in the country. Route service was expanded to the Chicago area. their own business in a building rented for $8 per month. In the 1930’s, George H. Leef opened a Milwaukee operation known as Industrial Service Company, and began providing shop towel services across eastern Wisconsin.

1960’s
George L. Leef retired as president and James and David Leef stepped in to lead ITU and AbsorbTech. ITU purchased Farley’s in Titusville, PA., to enter markets in the northeast. ITU develops the “No Boundaries” service model to support customers nationwide. The AbsorbU corporate training program was created to train Sales and Service employees in Genuine Service Excellence. RFID technology was integrated into garment processing ITU and AbsorbTech merged to become ITU AbsorbTech, Inc. SorbIts® products were introduced to customers. AbsorbTech, LLC was created and the plant was built in South Bend, IN. ITU developed a solvent recovery system for printer towels that became patented.
